• To analyse key competitor smartwatch apps to identify features, user experience elements, and market strategies, aiming to inform improvements and differentiation for my app.

Competitor Identification:

• Select 3 top competing smartwatch apps across fitness, health, productivity, and lifestyle categories.

Feature Comparison:

• Compare key features (e.g., heart rate monitoring, GPS, notifications).
• Identify unique features and frequency of updates.
• User Experience (UX) & Design:
• Assess design, navigation, and onboarding.
• Note common patterns and unique UX approaches.

First I have been tasked with selecting three different smartwatch apps to look into and compare.

I don’t have any experience using a smartwatch so I asked a few friends and family members about the apps they use the most, I also looked up some of the top-rated apps.

Todoist

Several people mentioned Todoist as an app which they use frequently on their smartwatch.

It is a productivity tool with lots of features designed to optimise time management and help plan tasks. It also works on many other mainstream platforms, and seems to have optimised its interface quite well for the smart watch.

Key Features- Task creation and reminders, to-do lists, collaboration with others, cross-platform sync, Scheduling.

Unique Features- Voice input for task management and smart scheduling.

Design- Clean and minimalist design, easy to navigate, supports quick actions on the go, at-a-glance layout, simple colours, buttons look large enough to use comfortably on a small screen.
